Stop hiding.

26 June 2009: I’ve been wanting to do one of these photos where the texture of some clothing is a key part of the image. The lighting in my hallway this morning was perfect for this so here it is. I’m actually really proud of this one… I got exactly what I had in mind for a change.

Sometimes you just have to touch to really get a feel for where you are.

25 June 2009: Just walking around brushing my hands in the grass and thought it would make a good photo with all the sunshine.

I'm not talking to you until you apologise!

23 June 2009: This one is just Tom and the neighbours cat, Barnie, chilling in the allotment together. I know the tree in the cats face is annoying but he moved after this so it was a once only picture and I just didn’t get it right the first time.

Daydream.

18 June 2009: This is just me… sat on a wall… looking over Leeds, shame you can’t see the view in this but its kind of spoiled by pylons anyway. I did a couple of shots in the garden but felt this one was missing something – daytime stars was definitely what it needed :) I just love to play sometimes. I wish my world was this colour. I had a daydreamy weird look in all of my photos today but I think that’s just the kind of mood I’m in.

A tree shows its age in lines, I show mine in wisdom...

This is just me trying to do something different with my self portraits. I ventured into the great outdoors – got as far as my garden. I find this kind of photo ridiculously difficult, I’m kind of hopeless without my daft props and gimmicky ideas. So anyway, this is completely out of my comfort zone and I look like a bit of a simpleton.

Actually, I just thought I would add that when I took this, I was just about to have my dinner when the sun popped out for no more than a minute… giving me just enough time to grab my camera (already on tripod), plonk it in front of this tree, jump in the tree and press the button – my quickest shot ever, hence the dazed, not thought about it, expression. Then I went back inside and ate my dinner.

ANOTHER outtake

I don’t really like to post lots of outtakes but I liked this one purely because it was completely accidental. I was just about to jump (more of a laborious climb onto the composter and a precariously placed plant-pot actually) down from my wall and I pressed my remote button.

Somehow all of the little details came out better in this one so here it is anyway. I have no idea why some of this is really grainy though.

I can see…

I can seeeeee...

17 June 2009: Another high-key balck and white just because I really like these. I used the natural sunlight from the skylight in my bedroom. Idea simply based on me having had an eye test yesterday and now realising that I’ve really not been able to see much over the last couple of years.

17 June 2009: I’ve had these ribbons for a while now; I bought them for another idea I have but that one takes a lot of work setting up (those usually take m a while to get round to). My photos have all been a bit moody and morbid lately so I went with something bright and colourful – don’t want to be getting myself stuck in a morbid rut. I did two alternative edits for two photos from this collection and liked them both… I think colourful works for me more.

I’d be happy in a sea of colour.

Burning the midnight oil.

14 June 2009: This was inspired by me having spent the day feeling sorry for myself with a hangover, after staying out far too late and drinking far too much – I doubt I will ever learn. I also did this because I realised I hadn’t made many attempts to play with light (since its so difficult), and thus this it isn’t my strong point. This is straight out of the camera except for a simple crop. I know the composition isn’t great but this room was tiny and I couldn’t really put the camera anywhere far enough away. I would have preferred it if my feet and head weren’t so close to the edges and would have liked this to have been a square shaped photo.

13 June 2009: More moodiness, which doesn’t make a lot of sense since I am actually very happy and not moody at all right now. I think I’ve caught on to the fact that these simple shots don’t take any editing and you can get your point across quite simply – hence lots easier to do. I need to force myself to get out of this easy rut and do more fun shots again, despite all the effort they take.

Orchid

I’m not great with flower pictures but I actually liked this orchid. This is practically straight out of the camera, just cropped. Oh, and there is a monkey and a leopard in the middle.
